Harrisburg Bridges

Pedestrian Bridge 2

Pedestrian Bridge 1

Market St Bridge

Floats

The first two images are a successful recreation of a photo I took a few years ago with a point-and-shoot camera.  Now I happily got an almost identical version of it with the digital SLR now...Below is the original photo I was trying to recreate.  Unfortunately, because of the daylight savings time change, the lights on the bridge were not turned on at this time.

Capital/Capitol @ Night

Capitol Streaks

Reflection

The second shot started off as simply using the car roof to provide a steady perch for the camera but when I looked through the viewfinder and saw that reflection, I had to take the shot like this...

Winding Blue

Winding Staircase

The blue and rust on this came out really cool.  This staircase is located on the remains of a blast furnace at the old Bethlehem Steel plant in Bethlehem, PA.

Push On

The reason for using one's left hand in the first image is so that of the switch flashes over the operator's body is not directly in front of the switch as it would be if using their right hand and rather off to the side by using the left hand.

Broken Steps

This provides an interesting contrast between the broken wall with different methods of masonry construction with the industrial steel behind them.

Midnight Orange

Fall Tree at Night

The outdoor sodium vapor lamps really add to the orange color of these leaves against the midnight blue night sky.

Power Towers and Clouds

Coulds

A circular polarizer helps bring out the blue and the contrast in the sky against all the green and yellow in the foreground.

Leafy Tree

Leafy Tree

The reds and yellows of the vine growing up this tree provide a nice contrast to the green leaves of all the trees in the background.

Clouds and Leaves

Clouds and Leaves

The contrast was so high in the sky that it was almost B&W anyway.  Removing the blue channel really brought out the red color in the tree and provided the ominous contrast in the clouds.

Driftwood

Driftwood

This piece of driftwood was left uncovered at a low water level spot on the the Susquehanna River a few miles downstream of Harrisburg, PA.  Normally this section would have been under a few feet of water.

Are You Lookin' at Me?

You Lookin at Me

These geese (at least I think they are geese) were standing at a stop sign at the side of the road and started looking at us.  If we had stopped any longer I think they would have tried to come into the car.  These geese are residents of Middletown, PA.
